The ADASS Spring Survey is an annual survey conducted by ADASS and is sent to every Director of Adult Social Services (referred to as Directors in this report) in the 153 English councils with social care responsibilities. These Directors are all full members of ADASS.

The survey is conducted around the same period each year to enable comparability. Where possible the core survey questions have remained consistent to track trends over time, specifically focusing on budgets, levels of savings and where they have been made, demographic pressures and Director confidence in delivering on their statutory (legal) duties.

Additional questions have been included to further strengthen our understanding of the financial position of, and other challenges facing adult social care. A number of specific topical questions are asked in each survey to reflect issues at that time.

The report, part of the latest ADASS Member Survey “Spring Survey” 2022, outlines the results of ADASS members’ views on the timing, pace and resourcing of the different aspects of planned and in train changes to social care.

The questions were asked as part of our Spring Survey and are being reported here in a standalone report.

As a result of the wider findings of the survey and the numbers of people waiting for assessments, care and support or reviews, you will see that we are asking the Government to re-prioritise and re-schedule the pace and order of change and investment.
