About this guidance

This is a brief guide to the roles and responsibilities for safeguarding adults. Apart from adult social care, there are many individuals and organisations involved in safeguarding adults, including integrated care services, neighbours, the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector partners, council departments such as housing, as well as local and national businesses like banks, the police and government organisations such as the Department of Work and Pensions.

This guide is aimed at people who are not adult safeguarding specialists but want to grow their understanding and knowledge about safeguarding adults.
