More about the Hub
We’ve built this hub as resource for social care teams and other organisations working to support unpaid carers in communities throughout England.
It’s a storehouse of just some of the great practice and great ideas being tried across England to support carers so they can balance their caregiving with other commitments in their lives.
There are more than 5 million unpaid carers in England, without their support many older and disabled people could not maintain their wellbeing and do the things that matter to them.
In 2023, ADASS President Beverley Tarka set a challenge to social care teams and other organisations that support carers to tell the story about the things they are doing to improve support to unpaid carers, so other teams could learn from their experience and adapt these great ideas for carers in their own communities.
Included are great practice where teams have been able to share some evidence of the positive impact they’ve had and also great ideas they are just starting to try out.
Using the hub
You can search the great practice examples via our interactive map or if there is a particular type of carer support you’re interested in you can search the hub.
We’ll continue to expand this resource with new examples of great practice and update the current examples as teams gather new evidence of their impact.
Have you tried out a great idea for supporting carers in your community?
If you adapt or try out any of the great practice examples on the hub, we’d love to hear about how it went and what impact it had for carers in your community. Use our feedback form to tell us and we can add details to hub so others can learn from your experience.
If you are the project lead for one of the great practice examples on the hub and you have new evidence of impact or new information to add to your entry, please contact us at carershub@adass.org.uk.
If you’re making a difference to carers in your community and your great practice isn’t yet featured on the Supporting Carers Hub, contact us at carershub@adass.org.uk to find out how you can get your great practice example included on the hub.
