In line with the principles set out in the ‘Haringey Deal’ a commitment the council is making to co-producing its work, they want to make sure carers have an active role in influencing and developing the new approach.

Halton Carers Centre – Dementia Carer Support

Halton Carers Centre's current offer for dementia carers involves providing information advice and signposting; support groups specifically for dementia carers; trips and activities; holistic therapies, counselling and access to the carer break fund – a pot of money that enables carers to purchase bespoke activities that help them take a break.

Carers Cookery and Wellbeing Breaks Programme

Portsmouth Carers Service Carers Cookery and Wellbeing Breaks programme gives adult unpaid carers the opportunity to participate in activities which offer a break from caring. The activities offered also support carer health and wellbeing by promoting healthy eating, emotional, and physical and wellbeing activities, opportunities to develop new skills and interests, social engagement, and the chance to get outdoors to enjoy the natural world.

Carer Break Service – A community and volunteer led approach

The carer break service in North Yorkshire was commissioned in October 2023 and is delivered by 3 lead voluntary organisations and 7 partner organisations. Rooted in a place-based approach this volunteer delivered model suits our local authority geography to support meeting the needs of carers in super rural, rural, and urban areas.
