The Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) congratulates the Labour Party for their victory in the General Election.
Anna Hemmings, ADASS CEO, said: “We look forward to the opportunity to work with Keir Starmer and his team to improve social care and ensure it enables people to live their best lives.
“We hope the new Government will prioritise meeting with us and other organisations in the sector to understand the key issues faced by those drawing on care and support and the social care workforce, and hold meaningful discussions about a range of potential solutions available.
“Three key issues we believe the Government must prioritise are the need to Improve the pay, terms and conditions of the social care workforce; provide improved support to unpaid carers; and to provide care closer to home so that those drawing on care can live the lives they want in their own homes and communities.
“Our members comprise Directors of Adult Social Services around the country who have first hand experience of adult social care which, at its best, can transform lives and communities. We look forward to sharing our insights and knowledge, and engaging constructively with the relevant teams in the new Government and their allies across party lines in the weeks, months and year ahead.”
