In response to today’s Government announcement of the final local government finance settlement for local councils for 2024-25, Cathie Williams, joint CEO of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) said:

“We are pleased the Government announced more money for local councils to pay for care and support services, which provide a lifeline to around a million people across England.

“But today’s settlement means councils will still be forced to make tough decisions about what services they can afford to maintain and people needing care and support, their carers and families will pay the price, amongst others.

“ADASS is calling on the next Government to commit to a long-term, fully funded plan for social care that takes account of the true cost of care and focuses on enabling people to live as healthily as possible, for as long as possible.”
