An ADASS spokesperson said:

“We urged officials and NHS colleagues early on in the pandemic to look at the whole health and care system, not just at the priority for freeing hospital beds. Years of austerity and a failure of recognition of people needing social care, caring for others and working in social care contributed to Covid’s devastating impact. We see no evidence that lessons have been learned and are deeply worried about what may happen this winter.”
