ADASS is delighted to welcome the appointment of Anne Williams as the new National Director for Learning Disabilities. There are some hugely important initiatives underway in this field, not least the next phase of Valuing People and the transfer of funding to local authorities to meet the needs of people with learning disabilities.

Mrs Williams current post as Strategic Director for Community Health and Social Care at Salford City Council and her recent role as President of ADASS will ensure that she brings a tremendous breadth to the new role.

Current ADASS President John Dixon said, Anne brings a wealth of experience both of national policy development and local successful implementation. She is ideally placed to lead this agenda at such a crucial time and already has the standing required to inspire users, local councils, health colleagues, partners and policy makers to pull together to make the progress needed towards the planned objectives. We look forward to working with her and the Department of Health at this important juncture.
