The Association has congratulated members and associate members who received tributes in the Queens Birthday Honours announced yesterday. Anne Williams, an associate member who was the first President of ADASS serving from March 2007 until March 2008, receives the CBE. Anne is currently the National Director for Learning Disabilities.

Paul Snell, also an ADASS associate and former Chief Inspector for the Commission for Social Care Inspection received a CBE as well, while Martin Cheeseman, Director for Housing and Community Care for the London Borough of Brent, and co-chair of the ADASS Housing Network, was awarded an OBE.

ADASS President Jenny Owen congratulated all three for the dedication they have shown to the users of social care services both in the wider social services world, and in the way have helped lead and develop policy within our Association in the past few years.

We are all very grateful to them: they thoroughly deserve their awards, she said.
