Providing an effective local response to Winterbourne View remains a significant and high profile priority and challenge for local areas and local leaders. It is an issue that cuts across both adult and children's services, and across local government and health. This joint ADASS / DH / JIP session explored the on-going challenges in ensuring individuals with a learning disability and / or autism and challenging behaviour have the care and support they need to live fulfilling and safe lives in their communities. The session had a practical 'how to' focus, containing examples of innovative practice and robust plans, both locally and regionally, to usefully inform attendees' work in their own authorities.
