Nearly fifty boys and young men and thirty workers offered their views on what makes for a good worker and what difference, if any, gender made to effectiveness.  The research was carried out in partnership with Action for Children and funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.  The boys and young men had experienced a variety of social care interventions from support with leaving prison and care to support as young carers.  This research is unique in its scope and in its exploration of a topical concern with the role of men in young boy's successful development.
