It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Glyn Jones, who died on 8 April. Glyn, Director of Adult Social Services at Bracknell Forest Council since 2009, a former ADASS Lead for Public Health and a champion for integration between health and social care, will be remembered with great respect by ADASS members and associates.

Timothy Wheadon, chief executive at Bracknell Forest Council said:

"We are deeply saddened by the death of Glyn Jones, former Director of Adult Social Care, Health and Housing at Bracknell Forest following a long-term illness.

"Glyn began his lifelong commitment to caring for people from a young age, starting work in a care home and progressing over the years to become an insightful and immensely creative strategic leader of care services with a national reputation.  He joined the council in August 2005 and was at the forefront of shaping care services for our older and vulnerable communities, retiring on grounds of ill-health in December 2015.

"Glyn was highly respected and well-liked by officers and members alike.  His ongoing legacy is a life to be celebrated and honoured with pride by everyone who knew him and had the privilege to work with him. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends."

Glyn joined Bracknell Forest as Director of Adult Social Care and Health in 2005, taking on additional responsibility for Housing and Transformation in later years. Having studied Applied Social Sciences at Bradford University between 1977 and 1981, Glyn also completed a Masters in Business Administration at Bournemouth University in 1997.

Glyn was the ADASS Lead for Public Health from 2012-2013 and wrote for the ADASS Futures publication and Annual Reports on a range of issues from integration and social justice to public health and social care funding.

Our thoughts are with Glyn’s family, friends and colleagues at this sad time.
