The Department of Health is carrying out a consultation about putting the National Data Guardian (NDG) on a statutory footing for health and social care. In practice this would mean that the role would provide advice and would refer concerns to other organisations. There are no new enforcement powers being created in this role, but local organisations would need to take account of, and respond to any advice that the NDG provides.

Please find attached the LGA and ADASS joint response to the consultation.
