ADASS congratulates new Secretary of State
Association of Directors of Adult Social Services
Date: Monday June 8, 2009
Directors of adult social services have congratulated Andy Burnham on his appointment as Secretary of State for Health. According to ADASS President Jenny Owen, Mr Burnham proved himself a friend of adult social care when he was at the Department of Health earlier in his career, and then during the time when the Concordat between ourselves, the DH, Treasury and other agencies was being prepared.
His commitment to Putting People First is widely known, as has been, while at DCMS, his strong commitment to the principles of inclusion.
Ms Owen also paid tribute to Alan Johnson, who has been appointed Home Secretary, for the passionate commitment he had contributed to the development of the Concordat.
