ADASS is seeking to appoint to a number of senior roles to work as part of the national team supporting the COVID-19 response. All of our staff and members are working flat out to support the social care response to the pandemic and we need additional support to do so.
We are anticipating funding from DHSC to support the ADASS team and Trustees on a temporary basis for three months in the first place, to commence as soon as possible. Subject to circumstances, DHSC funding and successful performance, this may be extended for a further 3 month period. The roles are all part time (approximately 0.5wte) and available on a fixed term or consultancy basis.
About the roles
Role 1. ‘Senior DASS’ support role. Supporting the Chief Officer (CO) and Deputy Chief Officer in a wide range of national functions including representing the CO in work with partners eg DHSC, providers, and the NHS, though to more operational support in the day to day running of the organisation. You will have recent experience at DASS level having taken national or regional roles.
Role 2. Senior Officer - Policy. Contributing to work of the senior team including taking a lead on particular areas of policy response. Policy areas could include – but not limited to – resources, safeguarding, commissioning, markets and quality, workforce Care Act easements. You will have recent experience at social care national policy and practice, DASS or AD level.
Role 3. Senior Officer – Practice and Communications. Supporting the senior team in day to day practice and co ordination of our work, and with very good writing skills to support our communications functions including the preparation of public statements and briefings, information for external partners, articles for publication. This is primarily a role for someone who understands the business of social care inside out, who can contribute to the whole or our work but who can particularly communicate issues internally and externally to a wide range of parties, including the public.
Role 4 Senior Officer – Social Care Policy & Analysis. Bringing a sound understanding of the policy context and able to contribute to our overall work but particularly able to work with data and numbers to support for example the analysis of trends and activity. You will have experience at national policy, AD level or Head of Service.
As well as experience at the levels indicated above, all roles will require an understanding of national and regional working. Applicants will must be ready to work flexibly – in terms of how they work their part time hours, and in taking on a range of tasks, dictated by the very fast moving and changing environment. All will be highly effective and versatile operators, able to work independently and at pace and in partnership with ADASS colleagues, and with government, the NHS and other external partners. In the current environment an ability to work remotely is essential.

A rate of up to £550 per day – or equivalent - will be available for exceptional, experienced DASS candidates.
