Remarkable person required for a remarkable organisation
ADASS is seeking to appoint a senior member of staff who will bring additional social care expertise and capacity to our team. This is a remarkable opportunity to be part of an organisation that has influence significantly beyond its size.
The role is offered initially for one year, on a fixed-term, secondment or consultancy basis. If employed, the post will be part-time, 3 days per week with a salary of £65k - £70k pa pro-rata.
About the role:
Working closely with the Chief Officer and Assistant Director, the role will support ADASS in delivery of its core objectives. This will include working closely with the ADASS Executive and key partners. In particular:
- Work with the Assistant Director to co-ordinate and support the ADASS policy and regional leads to provide professional experience and knowledge into the implementation of a wide range of work across adult social care.
- At any one time to play a lead role in one or two specific areas of policy / service development. These project areas could fall across the range of adult social care functions, including commissioning, safeguarding, integration. This may involve working with a national ADASS policy lead, or leading on preparatory work in ADASS on an area of early policy development.
- Contribute to the overall delivery of the ADASS business plan alongside other staff and the ADASS Executive.
You will need to be a self-starter, able to manage the juxtaposition of working on influencing national policy or analysing data trends one minute with assisting the team with anything that needs doing the next. With a significant career in Adult Social Care you will understand how national policy, legislation and guidance impacts locally and regionally. Your experience will enable you to support ADASS and our members to have a strong influencing voice on a broad range of adult social care topics in our work with national partners.
Applicants are likely to be working in the adult social services field, with operational and strategic experience, in either a service or policy/performance role, or Associates with a deep commitment to the values and objectives of ADASS. You will already command the respect of your peers as a colleague who reflects on, and engages with, policy implementation on behalf of the sector. As important as experience is the ability to work flexibly, at pace, and in partnership with ADASS colleagues and Executive, and with government, the NHS and other external partners. To attract the right candidate we are willing to consider a range of employment options: secondment, fixed-term contract or consultancy.
