Responding to Dame Christine Lenehan’s Review into the care and treatment of children and young people with complex needs, Margaret Willcox, President Elect of the Association of Directs of Adult Social Services (ADASS), said:

“We welcome this report which highlights how important it is for partners to prioritise this group of young people, working together to improve outcomes for children with learning disabilities and mental health conditions, which will help them to lead more fulfilling lives both during their childhood and as they continue into adulthood.

“The Transforming Care agenda applies to all age groups and by providing effective, accountable support at an early age, these young people will benefit from more personalised and dignified care throughout their lives that will be more rewarding to themselves, their families and society as a whole.”
