ADASS RESPONDS TO LATEST DELAYED TRANSFERS OF CARE FIGURES (FEBRUARY 2019)
Responding to the latest Delayed Transfers of Care figures for February 2019, published by NHS Digital today, Glen Garrod, President of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, said:
“The latest figures show that, yet again delayed transfers of care due to social care have fallen by 11.7 per cent from January 2019 to February 2019, and is a tribute to the hard work of those working in social care.
“These figures are a clear demonstration that a modest investment in adult social care delivers positive results. Just imagine what could be achieved were social care seen as an investible proposition by this government and given a long term, sustainable financial base upon which we could achieve so much more for local communities and the country in general.
“For example, an investment of £1 billion could help around 50,000 older and disabled people to stay healthy and at home by investing in a mixture of services including home care support, specialist residential capacity and social work assessments.”
