In response to the Age UK report, President of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, Julie Ogley said:
“We welcome this report, one of many that highlights the serious and urgent need for funding and reform to social care. The Prime Minister has said that adult social care is at the top of his domestic policy agenda. There is now a real opportunity for the Government to sort out social care, for all, once and for all. Those of us who are older or disabled need action in the short term through a funding injection in next week’s Spending Review to prevent further breakdown of essential care and support in the next financial year.
“This needs to be followed up with long term funding and reform to build a system that is fit for the twenty-first century and make a real difference to the lives of older and disabled people, and their families.”
