Responding to today’s announcement that the Government will conduct a one-year Spending Review in November, rather set out plans for a longer term settlement, James Bullion, ADASS President said:

Adult Social Care is fragile and COVID-19 is forcing some people and services to the brink. ADASS called for a two-year deal to bring stability and to push back the cliff-edge reductions looming next year. It is vital that the Government keeps its promise to sort out adult social care – that means investing in social care now so that we continue to deal with Covid-19, save lives, protect jobs and support the economic and social recovery of the country.
