In response to today's announcement of designated care homes to be supported by new state indemnity scheme, ADASS President, James Bullion, said:
The vast majority of people should and can be supported to return to their own homes after having been in hospital. Decisions about a move to longer-term residential care are generally best not taken in hospital.
"We welcome the announcement of the state indemnity scheme and hope that this will remove the blockage which has prevented a very small number areas from identifying ‘designated spaces’ during the current phase of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are pleased that the Government has listened to the concerns of adult social care and found a solution."
