In response to the Government’s announcement regarding the extension of adult social care funding, James Bullion, ADASS President, said:

We welcome the Government’s response to the recent call by partners across adult social care for the extension of much of the existing funding beyond 31st March 2021.  This will help provide some assurance and continuity over the next few months.  But Covid-19 will have a long lasting impact upon those of us with care and support needs, family carers and those working in adult social care. So we ask the Government to use more of the £21 billion public sector contingency funding that was announced in the Spending Review to provide further certainty and respite for all those involved.  We urge the Government to break its silence on social care reform, and to outline its plans for the future, ahead of the summer parliamentary recess.
