ADASS and its predecessor association had contributed substantially to the thinking about the role of carers, the ways in which local and central government can support them and provide them with greater resource and power to help them care for friends, neighbours and relatives. Carers' issues are currently represented to central and local government by Dr Graeme Betts (Newham), Chair of the ADASS Carers Policy Network.
